Audition Call-Outs

We create an in-house Christmas show every year, and there will be open call auditions for professional performers for this. Please keep an eye on our social media for audition call outs, and if you fit the criteria, apply following the application guidelines there. All opportunities like this are paid at industry standard rates. Due to the lack of paid performance opportunities in Weston & surrounding areas, we prioritise local artists to cast in our productions.

Commissions & Residencies

At Front Room, we aim to support new work in Weston-super-Mare and surrounding areas by allocating part of our funding to commission new projects. We support commissions with a small fund, rehearsal space and support from our team to develop your project.

To be eligible for a commission with us, you must be local to Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding areas, and you must be developing a brand new idea. This can include projects you've done some R&D on but not something you have already toured.

We announce our commission call outs on our social media and email channels, so make sure you're following us and have joined our mailing list.

If you do not fit the bill for a commission at this time, we may be able to offer a residency, where we support you with use of the space in-kind to develop your project. Get in touch with Emma below to find out more about residencies.

Bring your show

Do you have a show you want to put on at Front Room? We are always looking for exciting new productions and ideas to try onstage. Our aim is to support as many up-and-coming artists and companies based in the South West as possible but we also host suitable touring shows.

When contacting us about your show proposal, please use email only and please include as much information about you/your company and your proposed production as possible (that includes images, video links, website links and reviews – please do not send entire scripts) as well as information on roughly when you are looking to bring your show here and for how long. We generally programme events at Front Room 6-12 months in advance.

The theatre’s programme is a curated mix of theatre, comedy, music, spoken word, dance and family shows.  We have a particular interest in devised work and new ideas, shows that celebrate the liveness of the theatre. If you feel your production is right for Front Room, we look forward to hearing from you.

Please be aware that we are a small team working part time and replying to emails can sometimes take a while! If we are interested in your production and think it would fit the programme here at Front Room we will get back to you as soon as we can – this may be several weeks.
